Dear Dr. Alessi:
It is with great pleasure that I can write this letter of recommendation. Since the first time we met, It was apparent that your style of medicine was much more inclusive than I had experienced with other physicians. You were willing to explore all facets of a person’s life, which are combined into what I call a person’s “total well being”. I was allowed to be a participant in my own health care; your consultative approach enabled me to examine the current standards of care that are offered by main-stream medicine, but you were also willing to discuss alternative diagnostic and treatment modalities. In essence, I would describe your style of health care as a collaboration between patient and physician; shared decision-making.
Engaging the patient in their own healthcare has been a challenge that has dogged the medical profession in the U.S. since its inception; your personality, open-mindedness, and genuine concern for your patient’s well being has set you apart from other practitioners. In an era where the practice of medicine has been high-jacked by Governmental entities and big business, you have been willing to go against convention and reinsert the “human factor” back into the healing arts. Without exception, everyone that I have referred to you has given testimony to the fact that they have been encouraged and motivated by your approach.
Best wishes in the opening of your new office.
