Nurse Practitioner Visits

Megan Anderson has been a Nurse Practitioner since 2009. She received her undergraduate biology degree from Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, IN, and after volunteering for a year at a free health clinic in Kansas City, MO, she decided to pursue nursing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her BSN. She worked in multiple areas as a RN including pediatric cardiology/surgery, gynecology/oncology, and public health/family practice before attending grad school and becoming a Board Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.  In 2010, she moved to Fort Collins with her husband and son and provided prenatal care for low-income women in Greeley for 2.5 years.  She loved that work but felt disconnected from the medical community in Fort Collins, so she changed directions entirely and transitioned into a physical medicine clinic in 2013.  Her work at this clinic gave her a better understanding of chiropractic care and introduced her to patients truly looking for alternative options, and it was that experience, combined with some of her own health challenges, that led her to find functional medicine.  Functional medicine immediately made so much sense to her, and the values of functional medicine are in line with the way Megan chooses to live her own life.  Megan loves building relationships with patients and seeing their progress and helping them uncover the root cause to their illnesses.  She understands that the patient-clinician relationship demands time and the ability to listen, and her primary goal with patients is to empower them to make positive changes that will allow them to regain their health and return to doing the activities they enjoy.  She did her functional medicine training though the Kresser Institute for Functional and Evolutionary Medicine in 2016, and she hopes to continue learning and growing at Balanced Well-Being Healthcare.

Outside of work, Megan loves spending as much time outdoors as possible with her family and friends – running, hiking, skiing, etc.  She loves to support local farms/CSA programs, and she would like to say that she loves to cook, but really her husband does most of the cooking!  She also volunteers at Foothills Unitarian Church with the Our Whole Lives program for 8th graders.
